April was born and raised in southern Alberta. Her interest in art and nature began at an early age, fostered by camping trips with her father and watercoloring with her mother.
She pursued a B.Sc. in biology from the University of Victoria and then a BFA in art studio from the University of Lethbridge. She interned at the Smithsonian American Art Museum before moving to Puerto Rico where she lived for 5 years.
She nows lives in Lethbridge, Alberta, where she continues to work as an artist while mothering two young children.
